JAPAN INVITES AMERICANS.
TROUBLE OVER THE DATES,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLIXGTOX, Monday.
The American athletes at present in Wellington received a cabled invitation during the week-end to tour Japan, leaving Sydney by the Kitano Maru on March 20. The date of the vessel's departure presents some difficulty, as the athletes complete the New Zealand tour on March 21, ami the earliest they could be in Sydney is March 27.
However, the Kitano Maru calls at Brisbane after leaving,Svdnev, and sails from the latter port on" March 28. In| quiries arc being made if it would be, possible for the Americans to fly from Sydney to catch the boat at Brisbane.
