SUPERANNUATION AND WORK.
I quite agree with "Live and Let Live's" article that appeared in your issue of the 14th .instant, criticising the employment of superannuated Civi! servants in various occupations when Work is so hard to be obtained. But I should like to mention for "Live and Let Live's" information that many of the ex-Civil servants are retired on what ia not a living pension, and are forced to seek other employment to assist in supporting their families. Certainly there are cases where Civil servants are retired on £300 and over, which is quite sufficient for their living requirements, and it should not be necessary for them to compete with others outeide the service for positions offering, when there are so many competent men idle and urgently requiring work. , Competition for private employment by ex-Civil servants in my opinion should be controlled by the Superannuation Commiseioner COMPETITION.
