WHEN WOMEN FOUGHT
Female Bones Recovered on . Battlefield. AFTER NEARLY 600 YEARS. (KeceiTcd 10 a.m.) BERLIN, January 12. A Swedish archaeologist has made a remarkable discovery in the island of Gotland, in the Baltic Sea. He excavated from a common grave the victors and vanquished who fought in a battle on •July 27, 1361.
Many skeletons and pieces of armour were unearthed, the astonishing fact being that between the medieval breastplates in a considerable number of cases were bones, not of men. but of women.
