TRAM DESTINATION SIGNS.
Perhaps eome of your readers could enlighten me a? to why the conductor ie not j responsible for the two destination signs at the rear of tram care. The other day I ibad occasion to travel ,by tram car, &nd, see-:; ing the sign "Ponsonby" in .plain (black and white, I naturally thought the car was going; to Ponsonby. To my ; surprise, however,' on reaching Wellesley Street the tram turned up Wellesley Street East—the opposite direction from Ponsonby. On alighting I discovered; that one of the destination signs at the rear of the car stated "Ponsonby," while the other was "Sandringham." When this was pointed out to the conductor he looked out, and, \ seeing "Sandringham" on one side, his words were "Can't help the other side." Why! If some kind of an apology had been forthcoming the matter may have 'been overlooked, but when lack of courtesy was also shown it is. not eo eaey to forget the* inconvenience caused. S * y TRAVELLER.
