DARGAVILLE RAILWAY.

NEW SERVICE STARTED. FROM DONNELLY'S CROSSING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Monday. To-day is a "red letter" day in the history of the railway service, for a train for the first time made Donnelly's Crossing its starting-point. It arrived at Dargaville on time this morning, and there were between 20 and 30 passengers on board. The stationmaster, Mr. P. A. Munro, stated that, everything had worked'witliout a hitch up the line. The settlers have intimated to him that .the alteration will suit them. Some, in fact, will welcome the opportunity to lay up their cars and make use of the railway. He h iped fhat the number of passengers to-day would be a criterion of what was to follow. Cream will reach the factory about three hours earlier each day. This should be an advantage during the hot weather.
