Sydney Union Favourable to Rationed Work. STANDARD OF WAGES. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Following the notices of. dismissals which were served on many employees in the large Sydney stores after the Government's ban on the abolition of rationing, the Shop Assistants' Union declared officially that it would entertain proposals to ration work provided the employers did not propose lowering the wage standards.
IDLE UNIONISTS.
PERCENTAGE IN AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, January 5. Trades union statistics show that unemployment among unionists throughout Australia has grpvvn to 23 per cent of the membership. The percentage is highest in South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and West Australia.
