OVERSEAS FRUIT ARRIVES. PUMPKINS SHORT AND DEAR. A further shipment of bananas arrived by the Tofua on Sunday afternoon. These were sold yesterday, and realised 22/6 a case, ex wharf. Supplies of Californian fruit were restocked by the Golden Cloud, which brought red, black and white grapes, and Califorian grapefruit. The next shipment of Island oranges is expected to be small. The local market has changed but little, though good Nclis pears arc again selling well. Oranges are in good demand, and the market is short for hothouse tomatoes. Lemons are dull of sale. Prices are:—Apples: Delicious, 4/ to 7/6 case; Stunners, 0/ to 8/6; Dougherty, 4/ to 7/6; Granny Smith, 7/ to 10/;. Rome Beauty, 4/ to 6/; Pride of Australia, 5/ to 7/6. Pears: Nelis', 9/ to 15/; P. Barry, 5/ to 7/6; Josephine, 7/ to 10/. Tree tomatoes: 3/ to 8/. Lemons: Choice, cured, 7/ to 9/; others, 4/ to 6/. Grapefruit: Local, 5/ to 8/; Californian, 44/. Oranges: Island repacks, according to count, 19/ to 23/6; Australian navels, 12/ to 14/; Australian Yalencias, 15/ to 19/. Mandarins: 6/ to 13/. Tomatoes: Hothouse, 1/3 to 1/6 lb; seconds, 6d to 8d lb. Grapes: Californian white, in barrels, 21/; Califonian red, in eases, 19/. Bananas: Firm, No. 1, repacked, 18/ to 20/; No. 2 and medium, 12/ to 14/. Plums: Californian, 27/ case. Vegetables Sell Freely. Pumpkins are scarce, and the demand for this vegetable is good. There is a fair demand for American onions, and this is true of the vegetable market as a whole. There will be a, further shipment of kumaras from Fiji next week. Most of the present available supplies arc at present from Tauranga. Ruling values are:—Potatoes, Southern, 6/6 to 7/ cwt; new, 2d to 4d lb; onions, American, 12/ to £1 bag or crate; kumaras, Tauranga, 8/6 to 9/6 cwt; cabbage, 2/ to 5/ sack; cauliflower, 3/ to 0/ sack; swede. 2/6 to 3/6 bag; pumpkins, 18/ to'2s/ cwt; green peas, 1/6 to 2/ lb; beans, hothouse, 1/6 to 2/ lb; lettuce. 1/ to 5/ case; cucumbers, hothouse, 4/6 to 9/ dozen; vegetable marrows, 2/ to 3/ dozen; cabbage, on benches, 1/ to 2/ dozen; cauliflower, on benches, 1/ to 5/ dozen; celery.' 9d to 3/6 bundle; rhubarb. 2/ to 0/ dozen; spinach. 1/ to 1/8 dozen; pumpkins, on benches, 9d to 2/9 each; radish, 1/ to 1/6 dozen; spring onions, 4d to ]/ bundle; carrots, parsnips', beet and turnips, 1/3 to 2/ dozen; asparagus, Sd to 1/3 bundle; leeks, 2d to 6d bundle. Eggs Plrntiful. Supplies of eggs are good, though it is expected the recent wet and cold weather may cause a decrease. Current prices for first quality hen eggs are: —Special grade, 1/3 dozen; A grade, 1/2; B grade, 1/1; C grade, J Id. Duck eggs: Special grade, 1/2 dozen; A grade, 1/1; B grade. 1/; C grade, 11(1. Farmers' butter is fetching from lid to 1/2 a lb. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supplv of poultry was medium, and the demand was keeit , . The prices.paid remain level. They Were:— Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime 6/ to 8/, not prime 4/ up; light breeds, prime4/ to 6/6, not prime 3/6 up. Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 3/ to 4/; light breeds 2/6 to 3/. Fat hon.s: Heavy breeds, ;V to 4/9; light breeds, 2/9 to 3/9. Pullets: heavy' breeds, best 4/ to 6/, smaller, 2/6 up; light breeds, best 4/6 to 6/, smaller 2/ up Drakes: Young, prime, 3/ to 4/6; old, 2/fl to 3/. Ducks: Young, o/ to 4/; old, 2/0 to 3/.
