SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.

REUNION AND PRIZE-GIVING. The annual rally of the Auckland Sunday School Union was held in the Town Hall on Saturday night, when the president, Mr. J. Tyler, occupied the chair. About seventy schools took part in the rally. Seated on the platform were the prize-winners in the recent Scripture examinations. The president said that the union now comprised 300 schools, with 3000 teachers and over 25,000 scholars. New Zealand was affiliated with the World Sunday School Association, which had a membership of 37,000,000. Mr. Tyler said that the Sunday school army should prove a, powerful agent in the promotion of peace and good will amongst the nations. The Rev. L. B. Busfield, secretary of the union, gave a brief address on Robert Raikes, the founder of the Sunday school movement. Four shields won at the recent Scripture examinations were awarded to Mount Albert Baptist, Wanganui Methodist, Tararu Presbyterian, and Karaka Interdenominational Schools. Mrs. Tyler, who received a beautiful bouquet, presented the prizes to the successful candidates. Out of 461 prizes won, 277 were presented personally, the remainder being won by country candidates. An attractive programme was presented. Epsom Methodist Orphanage was responsible for a musical sketch, "Tiptoe Through the Tulips," and a parade of dressed dolls entitled the "Toymakers' Dream." St. John's Methodist gave an action song, "Snowball"; Green Lane Congregational and West Street Church of Christ gave concerted items. "Uncle Tom" provided excellent humour at the piano. Mr. R. H. Utting was choir leader and Mr. 11. H. Lambert pianist.
