BIRKENHEAD RELIEF SCHEME
UNEMPLOYMENT LOAN WORKS IMPROVEMENT OF TEX STREETS. The work proposed for the relief of unemployment at Birkenhead consists principally of footpath construction to permanent level, -which will involve an expenditure of approximately £5000. The borough council, subject to* the consent of the Local Government Loans Board, purposes raising a loan of £3500 without a poll, and the Government grant will provide the balance of nearly £1500. It is proposed that the money be spent in improving Weymouth Street, Palmerston, Rugby, Hauraki, Glenfield, Onewa, Rawene, Hutton, and Puriri Roads, Marama Terrace, and Wairoa Avenue.
