BUSINESS HOUSES.
KEEN CONTESTS CONTINUE. With the Business Houses competition half-way through, interest is growing, nnd the contests become keener with each round. The fixtures this week produced a surprise in the first defeat so far of the Shell Oil combination, which -was considered to be the strongest in the competition. However, after a gruelling game Kay, Chalmers, Grant and their men fell before the stronggoing Farmers' Trading team, though the greatest obstacle to the "oilers" was tho goalkeeping of Paton, erstwhile Y.M. custodian. The end came with the score Farmers' 2, Shell Oil 1. Abel's wore much too strong and vigorous for Customs, and romped home to the tunc of s—l,5 —1, and the Milk Co. won from the Grand Hotel by three goals. Training College and Automatic Telephones fought a real ding-dong contest with goals galore, the score in the finish being 5 —3 in favour of the 'phonists. The position of the teams at the present stage is as follows: — Goals. P. W. l: D. F. Ag. Pts.
