HAWKE'S BAY MEETING.

A ONE-DAY FIXTURE. GOOD GUINEAS FIELD. RECENT FORM REVIEWED. The spring meeting of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club will be held at Hasting to-morrow and excellent fields are engaged in the large majority of the events. With fine weather the fixture should be a successful one. The Hurdles. Call Again has only had two races this season, winning the Glengarry Hurdles, one mile and a half, at the Dannevirke meeting, while he was unplaced the next day. He should go well in the Tomoana Hurdles to-morrow. Wliakaue, after running second in the Terrace Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at the Manawatu winter meeting, won the Park Hack Hurdles, one mile and three-quarters, at the Hawke's Bay Hunt meeting. Tall Timber has run Avell in hurdle events this season, .winning' at Poverty Bav and being placed at the Hawke's Bay Hunt, Dannevirke and Marton. Most of the investments may go on CALL AGAIN WHAKAUE TALL TIMBER. The Trial Stakes. Eighteen are carded for the Trial Stakes. Black Acre was third in the Trial Plate, five furlongs, at Otaki, and occupied a similar position in the Maiden Race, six furlongs and 55 yards, at Paliiatua last season. He has started on several occasions ,this season without getting into 'the money. Sympathetic has raced once—in the Maiden Race at the Hawke's Bay Hunt meeting. She showed up for a while, but was unplaced at the finish. Acrospire was second in the first division of the Maiden Stakes, five furlongs. at the Dannevirke meeting recently, and Souchong was third in the second division of the same event. Futurist is reported to be galloping well at Hastings. The public may fancy „ ACROSPJRE SOUCHONG FUTURIST.

The Glengray Handicap. Sir Limond and Fitzquex arc at the head of those engaged in the Glenaray Handicap. Tin; former Avon a juvenile event, five furlongs, at the Manawatn summer meeting. He has had two starts this season without getting into the money. Fitzquex has performed' consistently this season, running third in the President's Handicap, seven furlongs, at Dannevirke, and second in the Spring Hack Cup, of similar distance, at Marton. Ivahikatoa ran second in the Horonui Handicap, six, furlongs .and. a the Hawkc's Bay Hunt meeting, and won the Kaitokc Handicap, seven furlongs, at the Dannevirke Hunt meeting. He was also fourth in the Mouto'a Hack Handicap, one mile and 110 yards, at the recent Wanganui meeting. Repay won the Horonui Hack Handicap, six furlongs and a half, at the Hawkc's Bay Hunt meeting, was third in a six-furlong race at Dannevirke, and second in a mile event at the same meeting. Desert Lp.d has been placed in three seven-furlong races this season. Acmil and Wliakaue look to be the best of the others engaged. The final selections may be FITZQUEX KAHIKATOA ' DESERT LAD,

The Classic Event. A large field is left in the Hawke's Bay Guineas; in fact, one of the best numerically tlaat lias been carded for the event. Full Crop only started once last season, running third in tlie Maiden Race, five furlongs, at Gisborne, to Huntingdon and Queer Card. Huntingdon is also engaged in this event-, as well as the Flaxmere Handicap later in the day. Ho was fourth in the Durie Hack Handicap, six furlongs, and third in the Spring Hack Handicap, of similar distance, at tlie recent YY angantii meeting, heads dividing the placed horses. He would only need to stay on to have a chance. Love Song -won the Onslow Stakes, six furlongs, at the Auckland autumn meeting, and was placed on other occasions last season. He is sure to be well supported. Merry Cry, the full-brother to Hunting Cry, has yet to get into the money. Running Over scored over furlongs last season, while Simba showed jx lot of pace early in his two-year-old career last season. He ran well for about six furlongs in the Eclipse Stakes at Wanganui at the beginning of the month, which was his first start this season. That race should improve him., Lady Paul was third in that event and is among those engaged tomorrow. Nea Lap,- sister to Phar Lap, has nothing to commend her, but Pakitere has, for she won the Spring Hack Cup, seven furlongs, at Marton. -Rapallo was successful in a ,five-furlong event last,season, while Tripping, scored twice over the same distance. Sporting Chance was unlucky at Wanganui in a - sixfurlong event, after winning over five at Manawatu. The principal selections may be .. PAKITERE LOVE SONG* LADY PAM.

The Spring Handicap. Singleton lias not raced since scoring at Gisborne in July- He is a useful sort up to a mile anfl a quarter, and if at lus best will take some beating. - Don Quixote won the Great Northern b . Leger last season and bas only bad one race tbis season, but be sliould go well 1 in bis proper form. Hynanna bas baa a fair amount of racing tbis season an should be well forward now. The Flaxmere Handicap. Henry of Navarre is at the top of those engaged in the Flaxmere Handicap. Last season as a two-year-old he showed a lot of promise, winning two events. Portray has , raced consistently recently, beingsecond on two occasions and fourth in two other races out of five starts. Lordlike won the Newstead Hack Handicap, seven furlongs, at the Napier Park winter meeting, which was his last start. Jenny Diver, a useful two-year-old last season, lias only had one race this season, finishing out of the money. She would only need to reproduce her earlier form to have a show. Talioma was second to Town Major in the Seatoun Handicap, seven furlongs, at the Wellington winter meeting, while if Huntingdon is reserved for this race he will have some friends. Of the others Laconic, Rule Britannia, Keen and Little Wonder appeal most. The best backed may be HUNTINGDON PORTRAY JENNY DIVER. The Concluding Event.

Hunting Day, who is top-weight in the Flying Handicap, was a good tliree-year-old last season, and if started he will have a lot of friends. M(iui has the best form, recently winning over seven furlongs and a mile at the Dannevirke meeting. Head Serang scored on six occasions last season and was placed 011 live other occasions. Taranto, Royal Parade and Admiral Drake may do best of the others. The most favoured may be HUNTING DAY MAUI HEAD SERANG.
