TOLL OF STORM.

PATHETIC SCENES.

Several Breton Fishing Smacks

Return to Port.

MANY CASUALTIES FEARED.

(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright)

PAEIS, September 24.

Many of the smacks of the Breton fishing fleet, for whose safety grave fears were entertained yesterday have now returned to the ports of Concarneau and Lorient, 27 miles to the south-east, in a fearfully battered condition.

There were pathetic scenes at the two ports named as the entire population searched for husbands or sons.

Eighteen are known to be dead at Concarneau and 30 at Lorient, but it is feared that the final total will be much greater.
