ANNUAL STEEPLECHASE.
KING'S COLLEGE EVENT. D. TAYLOR WINS THE HONOURS. . The King's College annual steeplechase was held at Jlangere yesterday afternoon, the weather being ideal. The winner was D. Taylor, a Form 11. boy, who had a five minutes' handicap. The handicap limit was eight minutes. As in previous yearß the course, which was almost six miles long, proved a stiff test. The fact that only 14 out of the 160 boys competing failed to complete the course is a high tribute to their physical fitness. Splendid times ware registered, the first scratch man home, W. A. Coles, who finished fifth, taking 3im 11s. The record time is 34in 425, established by R. H. Browne in 1928. - The ■ course led from the college playing fields, along Grey Avenue and Portage Road, across the broken country oehinri Quarry Hill to Henwood Road, and back to the college by Massey Road. The roads were dry and the country portion firm and clear of water. '.'•- The limit handicap runners set off at 2.33 p.m.
