HORSE DROPS DEAD IN CREEK RIDER PINNED BY LEG. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI Wednesday. While an. old horse which was being ridden-by Avice Parkinson, aged nine, was drinking at a creek it suddenly fell dead in the water. The girl was pinned by one leg and was quite unable to free herself. She had great difficulty _ in keeping her head above water and was practically unconscious when Mr. S. Fisher arrived, in a motor car and released the girl. If the rescue had been delayed the girl would undoubtedly have lost her life. as she was suffering greatly from the cold.
