MINISTER TO EXPLAIN. SCHOOL COMMITTEES' PROTESTS. The fact that the Minister of Edupation,. the /Hon. H. Atmore, intends: to visit districts oppoeing the Education report with the idea of removing misconceptions concerning the committee's recommendations was :mentioned at today's meeting of the Auckland Education Board. ■ . Mr. J. :; Patterson suggested that it would be far better; for • the Minister to stay at home and save the money .that he would 3pend by rilnning round the country. -Mr. R. S. Wi King: You can tell 3iim that when he comes. The Chairman, Mr. A. Burns: It seems etranges tnat so many -people should 'hiiye misconception over, , the , report. The majority of people are opposed to a good deal of it, though there .are phases 'of it ..■•that must 'be commended. Opposition to the proposals in the, report was expressed by the Rue'sell, Tc Uku, -Waikatp, Whitiora and'/Moiiiit Eden, cpmrnittees. The last-named body recommended that either the Education Board- or the.Auckland Primary Schools' Association should convene a special anecting of school committees, to include representatives of the secondary- schools, to discuss' the whole question from 'a constructive and:not a destructive point of. view. ... .' ■ ' ' . Letters . had also been received from jArOitapu, Kaikohe, Kaitangiweka, Maropiu, Ruapekapeka and ; Tauhoa school comniittees 'protesting ■} against. the 'proposed reorganisation. ■ * .
