Though the decking of tne.,- - second bridge has only just been commence*., |M someone has already nailed advertisements i the roots of the Christmas trees on the cliff • alongside the road at Orakei. Might I f lB > ,„ f i the advertiser how he would like simi ar advertisements nailed to the choicest plan , . outside his front door? As this drive wi4;g|p|| become the favourite site for viewing regattas, j , , arrivals of notable fleets and other aquatic , ( <j functions, might I suggest that a few seats , [ | would not be amiss between the-trees it-is , intended to plant on the outer footpath? Per- | haps the Carpenters' Union could organise tne manufacture of them by their unemployed ana .. ; ■ sell them at a reasonable price to thos« , ,- ; desirous of presenting them to their city; Even now the road shows promise of becoming not only the pride of Auckland but of all'• Zealand, so it behoves us all to do all m can to prevent its spoliation by inisguided coMN mercialism.
