TO RACE AT ASHBURTON.

(By Telegraph.—Special to ■"Star.*') WELLINGTON, this day. After heavy rain last night the grass and the tan tracks at Trentham were not available for fast work this morning, and trainers had to restrict activities to the sand. W. Ballingers quintet, Blade Mint, Royal Game, Painting. Flower,, and Invite, leave for the South to-morrow to race at Ashbuiton on Saturday. They go on to Geraldine, Kurow, and Dunedin. E. J. Maekie rides Black Mint, and other members of the team when tlie weight is not below 7.10. Flower and Invite are two-year-olds, whose special mission is the McLean Stakes at Wingatui.
