SMOKING IN TTTBATBE
TWO YOUTHS FEN-ED,
A large batch of by-law offenders was dealt with in the Magistrate's Court yesterday by Mr. F. K. Hunt S.M.
Two youths, A. Baraett and H. Siglej, caught smoking in a picture theatre recently, were each fined 10/ and costs 13/. '
For selling goods on Sunday, Mary Casey, Elizabeth Eccles, Robert R. Forbes, W. R. Tunnecliff, and Thakor Das were each convicted and fined £1 and costs. For similar offences Mabel Chapman was convicted and ordered to pay costs 12/, and Annie Tew and S. Skelton were fined £3 and £2 respectively. l
Failure to furnish a return of land to the Commissioner of Taxes cost J O'Sullivan £2.
"That will take the-profit out of his kumaras," said the magistrate, in convicting and fining William T. Brinkley £2 for unfairly packing 15 bags o"f kumaras. It was stated that defendant filled the bags with large kumaras on top and small ones, underneath.
