Mr. and Mrs. Perkins, of Auckland, returned to London from a Continental tour in time for the Royal garden party, to which they were invited, and have now bought a car and are touring Scotland until August 20, when they sail from Hull on a month's tour of Norway. * * * *

Hiss Melville lias been invited to Wellington by the Manufacturers and Ketailers Association in connection with a .New Zealand Industries Week, when the shops of the Empire City are making a special display. Miss Melville will deliver addresses on the need to support -New Zealand industries.

Miss Mitch-ell, who for some time was in charge of the post office atTokoroa, has resigned her position in view of her approaching marriage. The ladies of Tokoroa gave Miss Mitchell an afternoon social, at which a presentation was made. A function was also given in her honour by the members of the Tokoroa Moonlight Club, when a presentation was made. Miss Robinson has succeeded Miss Mitchell as postmistress. * * * ♦

Kayako Saijo, who has been adjudged the most beautiful girl in Japan, is one of the foremost leaders of the Feminist Movement of her country. Japanese women, who have only recently won recognition from the Government, are making rapid strides to keep up with their sisters of other countries 3> where women have won the, right to sit with., the law makers.
