RUGBY, September 4.
Remarkable speeds are being attained by the high speed section of the Royal Air Force, wjiich is practising at Felixstowe under the direction of Squadron-Leader Orlebar on Supermarine Rolls Royce and Gloster Napier racing- 'planes built for the Schneider Trophy. It is now expected that the difficulty in regard to Italian and French entries for next year's Schneider contest will be overcome and the race held in British waters.
Although the speeds now being attained by British pilots are not being divulged, it is stated that the world's record of. 357 miles per hour set up by Squadron-Leader Orlebar has since : been exceeded in these practice flights.

The Director of Civil Aviation announces that a new air service shortly will link the western and eastern States, revolutionising delivery of British mails. British aeroplanes" have beeii ordered that are capable of coyering. the distance between Perth and Sydney in 24 hours' flying time.

Costes and Bellonte, the Atlantic flyers, landed in the Question Mark here at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday after an 11$hour flight from New Y6rk, winning the £5000 cash offered by Mr. William Easterwood, the well-known manufacturer. ; . '
AIRMEN KILLED.
SPANISH SEAPLANE ABLAZE.
LONDON, September 4,
A message from Ferrol, one of the chief naval arsenals of Spain, states that a Spanish naval seaplane which was participating in manoeuvres caught fire and fell into the sea. ,
The pilot, two observers, and four mechanics were killed. „
