AKARANA ASSOCIATION.

At the meeting of the Akanara Maori Association last evening,, Mr. S. Barclay was appointed assistant hon. secretarypro tern, in lieu of Mr. George Graham, who resigned owing to indifferent health. The secretary was instructed to congratulate the Rev. A. J. Seamer, superintendent of the Auckland Methodist Maori mission, on the decision of his church to establish a Maori girls' hostel, which, it is believed by the association, will be another valuable factor in the good work for the social uplifting of the native race.
