HARBOUR BRIDGE CAMPAIGN.
COMPANY BEADY TO FORM.
SHARE MONEY FREELY OFFERED,
The company that is beftig formed by the Auckland Harbour Bridge Association to build the bridge is now ready to be incorporated, according to a report by the secretary at last night's meeting of the association.
Many requests for shares had been received without any canvassing, the secretary said, and he expected that the association would have enough money to allow the' engineers to go ahead and prepare plans. Already 350 £1 shares had been applied for. The amount due per application and allotment was 2/6 and it was expected that this would provide working funds without askin* for more. It was intended to go to allotment on £500.
Mr. A. Marks was elected to the chair when the meeting opened. The choice of a president was deferred until the next committee meeting for further discussion, before the calling of a general meeting.
Mr. R. L. B.Tonar was elected vicepresident.
The secretary reported on the work of the deputation which waited on the Hon. J. B. Donald in Wellington. The Minister had appeared very sympathetic to the aims of the association. He had advised them to form a company to do the work, in which case he would <nve them any assistance he could.
