HOWICK AFFAIRS.
MEETING OE TOWN BOAKD.
The -Howick Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. J. Crawford, presiding. . ..-■ ' ', It was decided to accede to the Post and Telegraph Department's request to pay half of, the cost entailed'in moving teiegraph poles in the board's area. The straying of cattle on reserves was discussed, but action 1 was deferred. The clerk was instructed to apply to the Main' Highways Board for the necessary funds required for the ISo. 2 mam The engineer reported that all new works, including work on the reservoir, were proceeding satisfactorily. The following were nominated tor commissioners at the forthcoming election: Messrs. J. Crawford, L. Mclums, l>. Strong, J. Armitage, A. U White, H. Bushell, J. Edwards, Q. Bell, P. Johnston, and C. Litten. , It was decided to call a special meeting, of the board on September 11 for the purpose of confirming the water by-laws.
