YOUNG MAN DETAINED.

REVOLVER FOUND IN ROOM

JEWELLERY SEIZED,

At 7 o'clock this morning Detectives M. O'Sullivan and J. A. Moon went to a lodging house in Newton Road, Newton, and interviewed a young man, afterwards taking him to the central station, where he is at present detained.

When the detectives called the man was in bed.

The police state that a sevenchambered . .22 calibre revolver was found underneath the bed and that a quantity of jewellery and other goods in bags, alleged to be the proceeds of recent burglaries, was found in the room.

It is probable that a number of charges of housebreaking will be preferred against the suspect when he appears at the Police Court *■ to-morrow morning.
