In ailetter, to Mr. Amos" written"just prior to the' opening of the Empire Games, Mr. Hobbs, manager of the New Zealand team, gives interesting details of the trip across Canada. They travelled with, the. Australian team, and everywhere both were welcomed with enthusiasm. He mentions that Mr. Ayres was suffering from, sciatica. They did not go out.rowing at Vancouver, as Mr. Ayers and Brough thought that one row in a .foreig'fl boat would' not do any good. .' . . .
On arrival at Toronto they were met l, y Mr: Collins, the New, Zealand Trade Commissioner, and Professor Louden, president of the Canadian Amateur Athletic Association,, and at Hamilton, by Mr. Robinson, one of the principal officials at the Empire Games, and a representative of. * the New Zealand A.A.A. in Canada. .
