Giving fellow llotarians the benefit of his impressions on a world tour at yesterday's lunch meeting, Mr. C. B. Bennett stated that the most contented people were in those countries where primary industries were given chief attention. As an instance of intense cultivation, he had noticed in Denmark a farm where 75 cows were being maintained on 25 acres. They were all tethered and were milked three times a day. In Switzerland he had seen production carried out on steep hillsides where concrete buttresses had to be built to keep the soil in place. After seeing these things and reflecting upon the large areas of flat land in New Zealand, he was forced to the conclusion that in this Dominion we had only touched the fringe of potential production.
