AGENT'S FAILURE.

DISSATISFIED CREDITORS.

DIVIDEND OF 5/ REQUIRED,

Debts amounting to £1099 were proved to-day against Ernest Cecil Adams, agent, of Auckland, who met his creditors before the Official Assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters.

The first meeting, on August 8, had been adjourned for the production of books and documents relating to the case, but this morning the Assignee said tbe proviso that the documents should be in his hands in a week's time had not been complied with. A summary had been produced that morning, but it was by 110 means a satisfactory record.

Mr. Thwaites, representing the bankrupt, said that before the meeting began he would like to inform the creditors that an offer had been made by a relative of bankrupt of a sum of £100. "I'm not making any suggestion that the creditors should be muzzled," said Mr. Thwaites, "but I would like it to be understood that that sum cannot bo increased. It is not a question of 'won't be increased,' but there is no more money available."

The offer was not discussed by the creditors. After further examination of bankrupt, it was unanimously resolved that the Assignee be requested to oppose Adams' discharge until a dividend of 5/ in the £ had been paid.
