OBITUARY.
MR. W. J. THOMPSON.
A well-known business man cf Auckland Mr. William John Thompson, died at the Auckland Hospital on July 24, a<*ed 42 years. Hβ was suddenly taken, ill a few days ago and ordered to the hospital, where an opeyation was performed. Mr. Thompson, who conducted an engineering business in Victoria Lane, was at one time a prominent player of Rugby football in Wellington, and afterwards he was a referee. He was apparently, in good health when he attended the Britain-Auckland onatch at Eden Park last Saturday. He is survived by Mrs. Thompson and three children. At the funeral to-day Mr. M. Kronfeld, president, represented the Auckland Referees' Association, and Mr. S. Hollander was present on behalf of the Canterbury Referees' Association.. ■
