ALPINE SPORTS CLUB.

A scene of colourful eplendour was presented last evening in the Lewis Eady Hall on the occasion of the second annual '•"At Home" of the Auckland branch of the Alpine Sports Club. Artistic lighting effects were a feature of the function. The lounge was arranged' as a conservatory and proved a cosy retreat between the dances. A profusion of palms, flowering pot plants and bamboo lent grace and dignity to the decorative scheme, in which feathery branches of mimosa predominated. During the evening bright interludes proved a papular innovation. A ballet item depicting a mountain scene "Midst Ice and Snow," was arranged by Madame Edith Baird and a character dance and an operatic dance item were given by Mise Molly Woolcott. The lady members of the social committee present cor-iprised: Miss E. V. MacFarlane (convener), who wore a frock of ciel blue moire with net; Mrs. K. M. Griffin, Alice blue lace frock; Miss Edna Bowell, palest pink georgette with bow. Among those present were: Mrs. W. J. A. Thompson, who wore delt blue georgette, embossed; Mrs. A. Kay, pastel pink and white ninon with floral design; Mrs. A. G.
