POLITICAL SOCIAL.
The New Zealand United party's Auckland women's league held a successful social evening on Tuesday in the Society of Arts Hall, in Kitchener Street. The upper hall, which was filled with dancers, was gaily decorated with red and yellow streamers for the occasion. Bridge and other card tables were arranged downstairs for those who favoured cards. The Felix Orchestra supplied splendid music for dancing and greatly assisted in making the evening the eucce<?6 it was. A Monte Carlo dance and other competitions helped to provide amusement also for the guests. The bridge prizes were won by Mi=s Ryan and Mr. Michaels. Mrs. Robertson was the winner of the five hundred and Mr. Sherman of the euchre prize. Mise Litherland eang during the evening. Mrs. Ton Stunner, the president of the league, received the guests in a frock of "black lace; Mrs. Coughlan, convener of the social, wore a gown of flame coloured satin and lace. Other members of the committee present were: Mrs. J. Trevethick, who was gowned in black georgette with eequinned overdress; Mrs. Michaels, sen., black satin frock beaded in crimson, over which was worn a smart bridge coat of tartan velvet; Mrs. ,R. E. N. Matthews, wine georgette; Mrs. Haresnape, gold lace frock; Mrs. A. J. Stallworthy,' smart gown of black lace; Mrs. G. M. Waite, pale blue taffeta; Mrs. Simmonds, bronze lame, Mrs. Blair, black lace gown; Mrs. Sherman, pink taffeta frock; Mrs. C. A. Williams, apple srreen lace frock; Mrs. Grainger, frock of beige satin; Mrs. A. T. Bell, black eharmeuse with diamante buckle and trimming; Mrs. G. W. Nicholson, pastel green corded taffeta frock; Mrs. Tillotson, larkspur blue silk gown; Mrs. Wrigley, black georgette and lace; Miss Molloy, frock of rose pink lace; Miss Stanton, champagne georgette; Miss Warne, Wedgwood blue georgette. Among others present were: "Mtb.
