NO EARLY CLOSING.

RETAIL SHOPS ON SATURDAY

FACILITIES FOR EMPLOYEES,

A meeting of the retail trades' committee of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association was held this morning to consider the question of the eaily closing of shops on the occasion of the football matches against the British team on July 19 and 20. Mr. T. C-lark, president of'the Drapers' Association, was in the chair.

After considerable discussion it was decided that no recommendation could be made that shops should close before the usual closing hour. Several traders said that they were arranging so that some members of their- staffs could get away earlier, and it was resolved "that traders be recommended to as far as possible arrange with their staffs so as to allow those wishing to attend the matches to get away earlier on one or other of the match days."
