THE OPENING GAMES
TO CONCLUDE ON FRIDAY.
The annual "country week" tournament promoted by the Auckland Hockey Association was commenced at Remuera yesterday afternoon and will be continued each afternoon this week up to Friday. On acoiint of the visit of the British Rugby team on Saturday it was decided not to play the Town v. Country match, which is usually played on the Saturday .as a wind-up to"the tourney. There will be no morning matches. The withdrawal of tlie Thames-Hauraki team caused a re-arrangement of the draw. Yesterday's results were:— * White Horse Cup.—Rodney 14 (Grimmer 5, Crulckshank .4, .Tones 3. Matthews 2) heat Maniapoto 1 (Roa) ; Waipa 7 (Wooil 5, 'Spiers aiul Matthews), beat Piako 1 (Cricket) : Whangarei 0, drew with Franklin 0. LADIES' PROVINCIAL CUP. A Section. —Thames 7 (Misses M. Ritchie 2, F. Grubb 3, D. Griffin 1, J. Smith 1), beat Waikato 0 ; Piako 2 (Misses L. Chirnev 1, 10. Bell 1), beat Franklin 1 (Mrs. Bell).
