FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' FOURS. This final will be played on Tuesday next at 8 p.m. in the school room behind tiie Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Khyber Pass. The competing teams are:—o. Holdsworth, W. Gilliam, D. Bodley, J. McPherson, and H. Francis, Mrs. Francis, A. Ward, L. Francis. Both these teams are from the same lodge, and as each has already beaten the other, the deciding game, which will be 21 heads, should be a good one. An interesting feature of this contest is that McPherson was for -many years the mainstay, as No. 3, of his present opponent Francis, and unlike some young players has been willing to learn. The contest on Tuesday will show how much the young skip has benefited by the experience of playing under an old general, on the one hand, while the old skip will show his pupil that he has still a few shots left in the locker. . OPEN FOURS TOURNEY. This popular event, which is staged to cater for those players who are not members of friendly societies, as well as those who are, will be held on two Saturday afternoons. 2nd and 9th August.
