OUR WEEKLY MOTTO.

To-day's competition contained many very good mottoes, some or which will be published in the wise sayings column. The halfcrown prize went to Muriel Branscombe, 101, Alberton Avenue, Mt. Albert, age 14, and the work of Ruble Lyndon and Mary Duncan was highly commended. "Don't wait for something to , turn up—turn it up."

2, Stanley Point Road, Devonport. Ist July, 1930. Dear Peter Pan, — Of the many indoor hobbies I have the one I love is solving the puzzles that appear in the Young Folks Budget. Many a pleasant hour flies by while I am engaged with pen and ink, and though it is only a pastime, it is also an education. As I said before, I have many others—reading, sewing. I draw a little, but usually end up by tearing up the paper, for the figures will not come right. I am very fond of music, and I play the violin. It is a beautiful instrument if handled correctly, which alas, does not happen always. Though there are many indoor hobbies, I think outdoor sport is the best, don't you?
