REMANDED FOR WEEK.
" TO GET A CLEAN UP."
Alleged to be idle and disorderly and without sufficient means of support, John McCarthy, labourer, aged 43, was
remanded for a week by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. Accused pleaded guilty •to "being idle, stating that he could not get work. Chief Detective Hammond said accused had often been drunk, adding that he was in a filthy condition.
"He got .a job painting some time ago," added the chief detective, "but showed his appreciation Fby going away and pawning the .brushes." McCarthy was remanded for a week "to get a clean up," it "being undei stood that he would have work to go to next Monday.
