Norfolk Election Fought on Empire Trade Issue. NEW PEER'S WIFE ELECTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, July 10. The Norfolk by-election, caused by the elevation of Mr. Noel Buxton >o the peerage, resulted:— Lady Buxton (Lab.) 14,841 Mr. Cook (Con.) 14,642 Labour majority < 199 Lord Buxton, the late Labour member, won-the Norfolk seat in a three-cornered contest in which the Liberal candidate polled over 3900. The main issue at the election was the Empire free trade policy, which was strongly advocated by Lord Beaverbrook, who addressed a large number of meetings in support of the Conservative candidate. Compared with the figures of last election there was an increase of nearly 2000 in the Conservative vote and of 300 in the Labour vote.
