WELCOMING THE BRITISH TEAM.
What about a good "Homie" welcome at Eden Park for the boys from the land of our fathers ? If the "Homie" supporters had a distinctive coat badge, and, as far as possible"got together," it would ensure a good solid welcome and support for those who have made the big journey to "show the flag." Will some local firm make and sell a badge which shall be appropriate—possibly an artificial rose (red), or, say, three lions rampant? We can rely on support for the All Blacks-, but the local Britons need organising to reveal their strength. Again, will our community singers seize the opportunity and have some fine massed singing by the crowd, as is done in England? I would suggest that before the teams come on the crowd should sing representative British songs, Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English,, and then the new National Anthem, "Land of Hope and Glory." Those who have heard a crowd of Welshmen sing "Land of My Fathers" know the thrill it gives. I hope we shall welcome the British, team with singing and with cheers. A BRITON.
