HAWKE'S BAY WOOL.
REDUCED RETURNS.
As the result of the fall in wool values during the 1929-30 season, the sheepfarmers in Hawke's Bay have experienced a bad time financially. The Hastings "Tribune" has gone into the matter, and has ascertained that wool production in the district means, on an average season, a return of approximately £2,000,000, but as last season's return only amounted to £873,014, it will be readily realised what the decline of id to Id at each sale has meant. Tn round figures, the farmers of Hawke's Bay this year are approximately £1,352,350 worse off as the result of the sale of their recent wool clip than they were twelve months ago. Again this shortage in the returns, however, is the quantity of wool which has been held over or shipped overseas. It is estimated that about 24,000 bales of late season's clip are still being held, and these, when sold, will increase the returns shown for the season just closed.
