CONAN DOYLE'S "MESSAGE."
SPIRITUALISTS SCEPTICAL.
CLOSE INVESTIGATION NEEDED,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. Naturally the message from Napier to the effect that a clairaudient medium says she has received a message from the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has aroused much interest among local spiritualists, but one gentleman, whose sincerity is undoubted and who is a keen student of psychical matters, expressed his scepticism. He eaid he thought it too soon for any message to have come "from the Beyond." Other spiritualistic adherents were approached, and it was learned that no attempt had been made in Dunedin, so far as they knew, to get "in touch" with Conan Doyle. One eaid that the promoters of the well-remembered and much-discussed "Blue Eoom" were now in Masterton, and that if any messages were coming from beyond they would be the first to receive them. Certainly Conan Doyle's passing has created world-wide interest among followers of the spiritualistic faith, but that claims such as those received from Napier should be subject to very close investigation seems to be the opinion of all spiritualists.
