YACHTING.
TAMAKI YACHT CLTJB. ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT. The annual distribution of prizes won by the boats of the Tamakl Yacht Club was held last evening in the Imperial Theatre, Kohimarama, in the presence of a very large gathering of members and visitors representing the city yachting clubs. An apology was received from Mr. W P Endean, commodore of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron owing to his absence on Parliamentary duties. The prizes numbered 37, in addition to which the Lipton Cup was won by the club's representative, Marie; the I red Browne Cup, won by Mawhiti; NeviUe Newcomb Cup, won by Lois; Marshall White Cup, won by Shalimar; Nixon Cup. won. by North Shore Bowing Club and the Commodore's Cup, won by Lois. Before calling on Captain H. H. Sergeant to present the prizes, the commodore, Mr. W A Wilkinson, extended a welcome to the visitors and briefly outlined the clubs activities during the past season. Although only established five years, he said, it was well supported by boat owners of the smaller classes. Racing had been good, the regatta being a great success. The club's picnic to Motuihi was attended by the Southern crews for the Sanders Cup contest, who enjoyed their visit. The site on the Baetion point had been secured for a club house and the recent art union brought in a substantial sum towards the building fund. Mr. Wilkinson thanked Captain Sergeant for his kind assistance m= securing the site and he was accorded three hearty cheers. ' . Captain Sergeant congratulated the officers and members of the club on the progress made in five years, and predicted that with the completion of the Waterfront Koad the club would go ahead by leaps and bounds and soon have a club house of its own. The principal prize winners were as follows: —November n . Maroro, M class; Scud, V and S class; Rahiri. T and Y class; Delphme, Z class. Lady (Jay and Blnestreak, outboards. Club regatta: Maid Marian, Star class; Mawhiti, M class; Celox, H L and N class; Ranui, V class; Namu, S class; Shalimar, T class; Lois, Y class, Tio, Z class Pastime, Miss Tamaki-and Kypara Kyd, outboards. Opening day: Mawhiti, M class; Scud, V class ; Rangatira, S class; Ramona, T class; Opah, Y class; Delphine, Z class. After supper dancing was continued until to the. music of the Snappy Six , orchestra.
