FIVE DROWNED.
FLYING BOAT CRASH. German Passenger Craft Comes To Grief in Baltic. AMERICAN WOMAN LOST. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12.30 p.m.) BERLIN, July 9. Five were drowned, including four passengers, one of whom was an American woman, when a Dornier Wal flying boat, employed in the Stettin-Stockholm service, came down in the Baltic Sea owing to a broken crankshaft. The crash caused the propeller to splinter, tearing the wing and destroying the wireless aerials. The flying boat drifted in a heavy sea for several hours. A schooner was unable to take off the occupants, and began towing the machine, which capsized. . . . Tlie pilot, mechanic and one passenger were picked up, but a search for the « others was fruitless.
