KAWARAU DAM.

Since tlie gates of the Kawarau dam were closed last Thursday, the water has fallen to almost the level following the closing two years ago. The river is now quite favourable for the Cromwell Development Co.'s work, and a large gang of men is engaged on repairs to the weir. A large quantity of material had been accumulated in readiness to be placed in position, and there is every prospect of the management making a good job.
