FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. QUIETER TO-DAY. ROBINSON ICE CREAM WANTED. After a busy period yesterday the local Exchange quietened down this morning, and little activity "was displayed at the morning call. South British, 'which changed hands yesterday at £2 19/3, were still asked for at that figure. A line rarely quoted is the pref. issue of New Zealand Shipping Co., which was offered at £10 10/ for the £10 share. Six per cent is the rate of dividend usually paid. * Grey and Menzies were asked for, a buyer offering par for the 10/ shares. Robinson Ice Creams are very firm, buyers offering £1 5/3 for the £1 shares. Rumours of the proposed ice cream merger have stimulated the demand. The Noon Call. Business brightened up during the course of the morning, and a tidy bunch of sales was notified at the noon call. Commercial Banks are steady, with a fresh sale at £11/1, and more wanted at the same money, but Bank of New South Wales eased at the midday call, with sellers at £38 5/. Sales of British Tobacco, Hill and Plummer and Wilsons Cement were all made at lower rates. The last mentioned are still available at £2 3/3. Goldsbrough, Morts are easier, with sellers at £1 8/3. A parcel of Mount Albert Borough Council debentures, 5%, was offered at par.
