S.O.S. TO THIEVES.
Robbers Wanted to Break Open Locked Safe. BANK OFFICIALS INTERNED. . , (Received 12 noon.) ,WARS,AW, June 16. A gang of six entered the Handlowly Bank at Lodz on Sunday. It is believed they locked the'officials in the safe, and it is not likely they are alive as the safe is unventilated. Frantic efforts to open the safe were unsuccessful. An S.O.S. has been issued to Warsaw and Prague asking professional safe-breakers to rush to Lodz.
Sequel to Stopping of Darwin Council Election, ADULT SUFFRAGE THE CAUSE. (Received 12.30 p.m.) DARWIN", this day. The members of the Town Council resigned in a body following a message from Mr. Blakele'y, Minister .of Home Affairs, ordering the postponement of the council election in view of the early •introduction of adult suffrage.. Hitherto the council has been elected by 'ratepayers only.
