■ ■ ADDRESS BY MR. COAXES. • (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) WAIMAUKTJ, this, day."' The Leader of the Opposition,, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, addressed a public meeting at Waimauku last evening. -Mr. L. Kerr-Taylor, chairman of the Waitenmta County Council, presided. ■ Mr. Coates expressed sympathy with the, Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward in his illness and wished the Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister-elect,, .the "best of luck" in his task "of forming a new Ministry. , Land settlement was the subject of Mr. Coates' address. He mentioned a scheme the Reform party had in view, and said the only way to deal with.the present situation was to "put more people on the land." He emphasised the need of breaking in virgin land, and criticised the Government's expenditure on railway development.
