THEIR EXCELLENCIES' GIFT
JUBILEE INSTITUTE CLOCK. JUST WHAT WAS WANTED. On May 9, when their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, paid their first visit to the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, they expressed a wish to -make some gift to the institute that would bo of permanent value as a happy reminder of their visit. On Saturday a member of a local firm arrived at the institute with a large parcel containing a handsome mahogany clock, with a full equipment of resonant Westminster chimes. The gift was accompanied by the following letter:—"The Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe desired to make a small present to the Jubilee Institute, and have chosen a chiming and striking clock as being likely to help those unable to see. I am sending this clock herewith, with their Excellencies' best wishes." The chairman, Sir. A. J. Hutchinson, says the clock is a very welcome addition to the interesting and handsome objects which generous people have from time to time presented to the institute. Their Excellencies' gift is, too, particularly usful as a central clock, especially a chiming one, and will enable the inmates to set their braille watches and take their times from it. The need of this has long been felt. Sir. Hutchinson said that it was very delightful to have that memento of the kindly and generous interest which their Excellencies were taking in the institute.
