NINETEEN SECONDS OFF.

In slow limit races it is usual to find the winner going much faster than handicapped, but rarely are so many seconds chopped off as was the case on Saturday, when Den y Pointer won. the Improvers' Handicap at Ash-burton. Handicapped on 3.45, Deny Pointer, driven by F. Holmes, won in 3.26 2-5. Seeing that he only won by a neck, it means that the whole of the placed horses went almost as fast. As Derry Pointer cannot be handicapped tighter than 3.40 next time out it looks as though there is more money waiting for his owner.
