graveside reflections^ SERVICES AT THE CEMETERIES. An impressive service, attended by close on two thousand persons, was held at Waikumete Cemetery, where many soldiers lie buried. This year the arrangements were in the hands of the Glen Eden Town Board, Mr. W. E. Martin, chairman of the board, presiding. A wreath of laurel was laid on the grave of every soldier by representatives of the Victoria League. Around the basement of the soldiers' monument flowers were heaped in profusion, a specially 'large wreath being placed there by the League. ' Mr. J. W. Shaw gave an address. He said we could not sincerely praise the men who had died for their country unless we made some attempt to adopt their standard of values. The spirit of selfishness was abroad, but Anzac Day came along as a reminder that there was a higher and finer standard of values needed for the present day. The Rev. J. Wigley helped in the conduct of the 'service. The singing of hymns was led by the Newton Salvation Army Band, which played the "Dead March in Saul" at the conclusion, an (J, provided the tlugler to play the "Last; Post." Under the auspices of the Victoria League a service was held at O'Neill's Point Military Cemetery, the Rev. W. J. Piggot officiating. Girl Guides placed wreaths on 100 graves. There was a good attendance. Addresses were given by the Rev. A. Macdonald Aspland and Mr. R. H. Greville.
