COSTLY TAXI RIDE.
SHEEP FARMER'S JAUNT. KO MONEY TO PAY FARE. As the result of running up a taxi bill for which he could not pay, on a lengthy jaunt on Thursday last, Harry Carlyon, a sheep farmer (55), found himself in the dock at the Police Court this morning to answer a charge of incurring a debt for £1 with Desmond Lawrence Humprries, and failing to pay the prescribed taxi fare on demand. According to Sub-Inspector Slianahan, Carlyon was in a slightly drunken condition when he engaged Humphries at the Quay Street stand at 4.45 o'clock on Thursday afternoon last. He was taken to the Ferry Buildings, and later to Parnell. When asked for his fare he had no money with which to pay it. Carlyon was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and convicted and fined £1 for failing to pay his taxi fare. In addition he was instructed to pay his fare and witnesses' expenses, 10/ — £2 10/
