OBITUARY.

MRS. CATHARINE HOLLOWS. At the age of 91 years, Mrs. Catharine Hollows died on April 23, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. and Mr. M. Boag, of Beach Road, Point Chevalier. She was born at Asliton-on-Macclesfield, Lancashire, England, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hill. In 1861 she was married to the late Mr. James Hollows, a mining engineer and contractor, of Bolton. In 187G Mr. Hollows went to Australia and later came across to New Zealand. In 1879 Mrs. Hollows, with their seven children, joined her husband, the voyage out being made in the Dutch steamer Stadhaarlem. The family settled first at Otago, but later moved to Westport. Mr. Hollows was accidentally drowned over twenty years ago and shortly afterwards Mrs. Hollows came to live with her daughter in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Hollows had nine children, of whom the following are living: Mrs. M. Boag, Mr. Joseph Hollows, of Auckland; Mr. John Hollows, of Hukerenui, Bay of Islands; Mr. James Hollows, of Catlin's River, Otago; Mr, S. Hollows, of Helensburgh, New South Wales; Mr. T. Hollows, of Whangarei; and Mr. W. Hollows, of Fairfield, Otago. There are 37 grandchildren and 38 great-grand-children.
